Technology Awards Nominations

Technology Company of the Year

This award is for an Outstanding Company that, beyond a specific innovation or achievement, contributes significantly to Maine as a cutting-edge technology state.

Gazelle Company

Presented to the company that, through innovation in products, services or business approach, has emerged from its start-up phase to become a solid presence in the marketplace.

CxO of the Year

Presented to a senior level executive of a technology company headquartered in Maine that has been in operation at least three years, and whose company receives high ratings in sales growth, job creation in Maine, profitability, return-on-equity, new products and/or product upgrade releases, innovative technology applications, legislative activities pertinent to the technology sector and other civic and community involvement.

New Technology (Product or Service) of the Year

Awarded to the company that has produced a truly innovative, unique, and proprietary technology, one that demonstrates excellence through compelling potential for sustained viability.

Technology Innovator of the Year

Honors an outstanding technology professional who, beyond contributing a specific innovation or reaching a specific achievement, contributes significantly to Maine's cutting-edge technology community.

Best of the Web Awards Nominations

Corporate Image site

Honors a company — all types of companies are eligible to be nominated, from restaurants to banks to virtual businesses — whose website best presents a corporate image that is uniquely theirs. It will be a memorable site that shows that the company understands the importance of a good brand.

Arts & Entertainment site

Presented to a website focused on Arts and Entertainment, music, social networking, sports, or whatever you find entertaining, that presents its users with a good looking, highly usable interface. This site will present current and useful information.

Nonprofit site

For the good of the community: Chambers, towns, educational institutions. Good looking and easy to use, this website allows its users to find what they need swiftly and in a manner that allows - make that, insists - that the user stay on the site to find out more about the organization.

E-Commerce site

This site leaves no doubt in the site visitor's mind what to do: BUY THE PRODUCT! It leaves no question as to what the product is, or how to buy it. This site presents the users with appropriate information about products that are easy to find and easy to buy.

 

Criteria for Nomination / Rules:

  • Nominees do not have to be members of TechMaine.
  • Anyone may nominate another party but nominators must provide all the required information.
  • The number of entries does not influence the determination of a winner.
  • Companies, schools and individuals are encouraged to nominate themselves.
  • Nominees for company awards must be an established company, subsidiary or division with significant operations in Maine and must have commercially available products or services.
  • Nominee companies may be divisions of larger companies located in Maine or elsewhere; however, all required information must relate to the entrant's business only, not its parent company.
  • A person representing the nominee must be available during the judging process to speak to the judging panel if needed.
  • The period of accomplishment should relate to the timeframe of January 2009 to May 2010.
  • TechMaine reserves the right to reassign nominations to the most appropriate category.
  • A Website 'from away' can be nominated if it was created in Maine with Maine talent.
  • Nomination materials will not be returned.
  • Nominees will be notified of acceptance or rejection of nomination form.
  • Three finalists for each category will be announced prior to the event, and winners will be announced at the TechMaine Technology Awards Gala.
  • There is no fee to submit a nomination. Nominees are expected to have a representative(s) present at the event. Nominations submitted without a corresponding event registration will not be forwarded to the judges until the event registration is received.

Confidentiality:
The judges will hold all information in strict confidence. All financial information supplied on the nomination forms is confidential and seen only by the judging panel. Following the judging process, the nominations are destroyed.

Selection of Winners:
To ensure the integrity of the results, the judges will consist of volunteers who will monitor the selection process. The judges are independent professionals - industry and community leaders - recognized for their knowledge and experience. They will make decisions based upon the award criteria for each award.
