Charles P. Bacall

Charles P. Bacall is a Partner and serves as chair of the Intellectual Property and Technology Group. He concentrates his practice on trademark protection, intellectual property and technology licensing, and business law. Charlie has served two terms as Chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Maine State Bar Association and is a member of the International Trademark Association. He is a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Maine Law School on the subject of intellectual property. He has written and lectured on such subjects as "Selecting and Protecting Trademarks," "Trademarks and Domain Names," and "IP Issues in E-Commerce." In addition to representing regional and national brand owners in connection with their U.S. and international trademark portfolios, a significant portion of his practice involves assisting clients in drafting and negotiating software and internet-related contracts and agreements.
Gren Blackall

Gren Blackall is the Senior Staff Member in charge of our Business Banking, Cash Management, and Marketing departments. Reporting directly to the CEO, he assists clients in integrating corporate goals with a tailored financial services and consulting package, for a sustained impact on quality and profitability for the company. In his 20-plus years of business, Gren has developed extensive experience in business strategy, marketing, financial operations, cash management, and technology. He received his M.B.A. from Anderson School at UCLA and his B.S. from Yale University. He is a Certified Cash Manager and a member of The Treasury Management Association of New England. He currently resides in Woolwich with his wife of 29 years, Joyce. He has two sons in college and four dogs.
Joshua Broder

Josh is the President of Tilson and an IT leadership and project management consultant. As President, Josh is responsible for strategy, leadership, and business development across the Tilson family of companies, including Construction Change Partners, Offcore LLC, and Source Asia Services. Utilizing his strong technical, leadership, and management background, Josh is good at overcoming project inertia and completing projects in difficult organizational environments. As a Tilson Consultant, Josh has served as an IT director and CIO for hire, consulted on banking, biotechnology, engineering, marine science, and construction IT projects, and leads our utilities consulting team, focusing on telecommunications infrastructure projects. Prior to joining the Tilson team, Josh served as an Army communications officer, managing the network operations center that controlled the government communications network in Central Asia. Josh is also involved as a leader within the Maine IT community. He currently sits on both the TechMaine board and the business advisory council for the Computer Science department of the School of Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology at the University of Southern Maine.
Jean-Francois Cloutier

Jean-Francois is CTO at Mind-Alliance Systems where he is developing software to improve information sharing within and across organizations from better knowledge of information needs and capabilities. Prior to joining Mind-Alliance Systems in 2005, Jean-Francois helped develop and commercialize a semantic enterprise information integration (EII) solution before there was a market for EII. He has spent a decade or so consulting to large corporations as a software architect. Jean-Francois has a B.Sc. in Physiology and an M.Sc. in Conputer Science, both from McGill University. He lives in Portland, Maine and works out of his home office.
James Damicis

Jim Damicis has more than 20 years of experience in economic development and public policy research and analysis. Jim is currently the Senior Vice President for Camoin Associates and is responsible for business and market development, marketing, and research initiatives. In 2003, Jim founded PolicyOne Research, and developed the firm into a leading research and analysis company in Maine serving private and public clients. PolicyOne Research was acquired by Camoin Associates in 2011. Prior to starting his own business and joining Camoin Associates, Jim worked for the Maine Science and Technology Foundation, MSTF as the Director of Research and Director of Policy. While at MSTF, Jim was responsible for building and managing the Foundation’s research capacity for fostering the state’s technology-based economic development. Prior to working for MSTF, Jim worked as an Associate with the public policy consulting firm of Planning Decisions in South Portland, Maine for five years. In this capacity, Jim served state, regional and local government clients in the areas of economic and community development, service delivery analysis, fiscal analysis, and demographic forecasting. Jim started his professional career as the Research Director for the Maine Municipal Association, a position in which he served for five years. As the Research Director, Jim developed the Association’s in-house research capacity, conducted the first comprehensive evaluation of municipal fiscal conditions in Maine, and managed the Association’s Information Resource Center.Jim has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Connecticut, Storrs and a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration from the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.
Corky Ellis

Corky Ellis is Chairman and Founder of Kepware Technologies; Corky started Kepware Technologies in 1995. The process of founding Kepware also involved leaving New Jersey in search of a new home, appropriate for raising his new family. He found that place in Maine, reflecting the states slogan - "The Way Life Should Be." Today, Kepware is located in downtown Portland, an area known as the historic Old Port, employs over 40 people and is the world leading company for communications and related products for use in the automation marketplace. Corky's main focus is on Kepware's long term direction through strategic acquisitions and organic growth. Corson Ellis graduated from Amherst College and received an M.B.A. degree from Columbia University.
Stephen Hand

Stephen is the President and CTO of Know Technology. His primary responsibilities within Know Technology are leading the overall technical direction of the company and serving as the lead solution architect for most of Know Technology's large client projects. He has worked in the IT industry for over 21 years holding numerous technical and management related positions. Stephen has served as an engineer or project manager on large scale network infrastructure deployments as well as critical Line of Business application rollouts. As either an employee or consultant, he has worked throughout the US and in the Middle East with companies such as Berkshire Hathaway, Cam Commerce Solutions, Adidas America and FAME. Stephen is actively involved in the community – in addition to serving on TechMaine board, he serves on the board of the Maine Technology Institute, sits on the PopTech advisory board and is active on the boards of Maine Coast Skaters Youth Hockey Association and the Mid Coast Junior Golf Association. He is a graduate of The University of Maine with a BS in Business Marketing and minor in Computer Science.
Sarah C. Hines

Sarah is the President and Problem Solver of shines & jecker laboratories, a full service web design and development company with a drive to design and build engaging, easy-to-use websites. At shines & jecker, Sarah starts conversations, manages projects, administers the servers, and develops interfaces and testing processes. Before co-founding shines & jecker, she worked as a developer, project manager, conference organizer, and client services coordinator. Sarah also works with the Institute for Civic leadership developing a leadership training program for young people, the League of Young Voters developing a citizen engagement program, and is working to expand the reach of an International access to water project serving rural Dominican Republic. When she isn't hooked into her computer, she's training with her dog Pepper.
Jeffrey Hoffman

Jeff Hoffman is owner and chief architect of Starlit Software, providing premier software consulting and development services. He is equally comfortable at the keyboard, the drawing board, or the board room. He started his career as a high school student in 1982, writing an accounting system for the school. He earned his Computer Science degree at Dartmouth College in 1986. After working for Analog Devices and HP in the Boston area, Jeff started a software consulting business in 1990. Over the past 20 years he has enjoyed every imaginable role, from CTO to coder, on development projects of all types and sizes.
Matthew Jancovic

Matthew Jancovic has worked in the telecommunications and Internet industries for over 14 years. Prior to joining Oxford Networks, he owned, operated, and successfully sold Waterville Online; an Internet Service provider he started while in college. Following the sale, he operated as a business consultant concentrating in IT and Internet fields. Prior roles at Oxford Networks included Product Manager and Marketing Manager. As Director of Marketing and Customer Service, he leverages his out of the box thinking to positively influence process improvement, develop award winning marketing campaigns, and improvements in overall customer experience while developing and managing to long term strategic objectives. Jancovic holds a BA from Colby College where he majored Economics and minored in Classical Civilization. He resides in Gray, ME with his wife Meredith and son Preston.
Don Kennel

Don is Senior Director of Software Engineering at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. where he develops instrumentation and software solutions to enhance the ability of veterinarians to provide advanced medical care, improve staff efficiency and to build more economically successful practices. IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. is a leader in pet healthcare innovation, serving practicing veterinarians around the world with a broad range of diagnostic and information technology-based products and services. Previously Don held leadership roles at Bayer Diagnostics, Miles Laboratory, Technicon, Cambridge Medical Instruments and Revlon Health Care. Don has a B.Sc. in Biophysics and M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering. He lives in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
Becky McKinnell

Erik Mitchell

Erik Mitchell is cofounder of Maine Frameworks, a firm dedicated to bringing technical expertise on websites, databases and software projects to small and medium sized businesses throughout New England. With an MBA from the University of Southern Maine and a Computer Science degree from Colby College, Erik excels at bringing strategic visions to reality through hard work and the application of technology. Erik has more than 14 years of Information Technology consultative experience working for organizations such as Deutsche Bank, Northrop Grumman, the US Navy and Barnes & Noble.com. As cofounder of Maine Frameworks, Erik focuses on operations, business analysis, strategic IT execution, software architecture and building applications using a wide range of platforms. In addition to his work with Maine Frameworks, Erik is an accomplished iPhone developer with over 100,000 downloads of his first venture into iPhone App development. Erik and his wife live in a 200 year old farmhouse in Alna, Maine.
Todd Molloy

Todd Molloy is the Director of Sales and Marketing at Systems Engineering, the largest independent and employee-owned IT provider in Maine. Molloy is responsible for providing strategic leadership and for the direction of all company sales and marketing functions. His team helps clients align technology platforms with business objectives and maximize their return on IT investments. Mr. Molloy brings more than twenty years of sales management and business development experience to the position. Prior to joining Systems Engineering, he held management positions at Wright Express Corporation, CTC Communications / ONE Communications and Seafax, Inc.
Kevin Reader

A key member of the strategic and management team at Perry & Banks, Kevin has both operational and client responsibilities at Perry & Banks, concentrating on program management, project management, and the alignment of sales and marketing. He was also past president of the Board of Directors for the Vermont-New Hampshire Direct Marketing Group, which has some of the nation’s pre-eminent direct marketing companies as its members, and holds degrees in International Affairs and Organizational Leadership.
Robert Sansone

Robert Sansone is the Chief Human Resources Executive for Tyler Technologies, a software development company with more than 400 of its 1,900 employees based in Maine. He is responsible for developing and implementing policies and practices that enable the company to attract and retain employees in a wide range of geographic markets. Mr. Sansone has been in this role with Tyler and its predecessor company, MUNIS, for 14 years. Mr. Sansone has 30 years of experience in human resources management including compensation, benefits, recruiting, employee development, training, policy development and consulting. Prior to joining Tyler, he worked for ABB/ Combustion Engineering, Inc. as Vice President, Human Resources for the Environmental Services Division in Portland, Maine and as Director, Corporate Compensation in Stamford, Connecticut. He earned a B.A. in Psychology from Villanova University.
Jim Smith

Jim Smith has over 30 years experience in IT development, innovation, and workforce planning. He has worked at Aetna, American Express, Sun Life Financial, and Unum. In addition to IT development, Jim has been actively involved with Information Technology workforce planning. In the 1990’s, he brought over 100 IT resources to the US from countries including the Former Soviet Union, India, the Philippines, and Mexico. He has also worked with colleges in Massachusetts, Maine, Tennessee, and Ireland to define and encourage the next generation IT workforce. He has developed and overseen two different operations in Ireland, supporting US companies. For the past five years, Jim has been VP, IT for Unum. He is currently responsible for Shared Services, which includes IT Innovation, Vendor Management, IT Communication and Training, and Unum’s Ireland operations. For Unum, he has developed an IT Tech Night, where students from colleges and high schools come to Unum to learn about IT careers. To date, over 200 students have attended the sessions. Jim currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Giving Back Fund, a national charity, and the Computer Advisory Board for the University of Southern Maine.
Rob Waeldner

Robert J. Waeldner of the Waeldner Law Offices assists technology companies in raising revenue by negotiating and closing revenue, business development and other strategic and operational agreements. Drawing upon extensive experience at large Boston law firms and in-house, Rob counsels CEO’s, CFO’s and other business executives at emerging and growing, technology oriented businesses throughout Maine and Massachusetts. Rob also serves as a trusted and reliable resource for in-house legal departments at various publicly traded technology companies. Previously, Rob was in-house counsel at IDEXX Laboratories, a prominent Maine biotech firm, and Concord Communications, a leading Massachusetts software provider. Rob, originally trained as an engineer, also worked with a range of technology clients at two major Boston law firms. Rob holds a B.S. from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. cum laude from the Boston University School of Law. Rob currently serves as Chair of the IT Technology Review Board at the Maine Technology Institute (MTI) and is a member of the Board of Directors of both the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce and the Yarmouth Little League.
Gene Wendland
CFO - Tilson Technology Management
Gene joined Tilson Technology Management in June, 2011, bringing nearly 25 years of senior Finance and Operations management experience to the company. Prior to joining Tilson, Gene was the Chief Operating Officer at Village Candle, Inc. and Sr. Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at G. H. Bass & Co. Gene has substantial management experience in retailing and wholesaling consumer products, domestic manufacturing and overseas sourcing operations, corporate restructuring and refinancing, and creating strategic business plans and workable budgets. He also has significant experience in IT project management, especially in the consumer product arena with heavy emphasis in inventory control, purchase order management, and back office applications. Gene is a graduate of Missouri State University holding a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and attended Rockhurst University while working toward his MBA.
Glenn Wilson

Glenn F. Wilson is the Director of the Research Computing Group (RCG) at University of Southern Maine, which he founded in 2006 and is an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Technology. Wilson has been at USM since 1997 and has led a broad range of technology and innovation projects. Prior to coming to USM, he chaired the Media Technology Department at Appalachian State University and prior to that led technical projects in Research and Development at Indiana University. At the RCG Wilson works closely with faculty from Computer Science, Business, Technology, GIS, Engineering, and Mathematics and Statistics, staff, and students on projects that come from industrial, medical, and state collaborations and contracts. Currently most projects address web applications, and deal with large databases and specialized search and retrieval functions as well as data acquisition and data analysis tools.
