Abromson Center
Project Leadership Special Interest Group (PLsig)
This is the regular meeting of the Project Leadership SIG.

This meeting will be held at the Abromson Center, USM, Room 214 (second floor). Driving directions are here.

Project Communication: If It Ain't Broke, It'll Fix Anything that Is

We all talk about communication, but we don't really communicate about it and we often don't do it well. Good communication is the essence of good project management, and poor communication produces poor project management. Since we're doing it constantly, whenever we're within sight, sound or Internet range of other people, it deserves more attention.

This presentation, based on 25 years' exploration of the issues, provides the opportunity for project managers to examine the lessons of their own communication experiences. It offers workplace-based practices for establishing and maintaining sound communication, and for using communication to head off project problems.

About the Speaker: Jim Milliken, a Portland-based independent consultant, specializes in project management, workplace communication and personal productivity. He holds the Project Management Professional certification of the Project Management Institute, and regularly conducts an eight-day project management curriculum at the University of Southern Maine. He also presents frequently on such topics as Business Writing, Grammar and Mastering Multiple Projects, Priorities & Demands. His website is at MillikenProject.com

See his blog here.

About PLsig: The TechMaine Project Leadership Special Interest Group meets monthly, on the second Monday of the month. Meetings start at 6:00 p.m. No charge; open to the public.

Door Prize: Each month registered attendees are entered in a door prize drawing, usually a newly released book. FMI: Please Visit the PLSIG page or contact us.
Please register to attend so that we can notify you if there is a change in schedule, and so your name will be in the drawing for the door prize.
